It's not the end of the world, but it is the Steampocalypse as Valve's Holiday Sale begins
Why not ride out the end of the world with some video games?
Steam's annual Holiday Sale has officially begun. Daily deals on the best games of 2012 and beyond starting now and running through January 5. There doesn't appear to be any sort of contest or meta-event going on this year, unfortunately, but everyone's favorite sales are back. That means daily deals (now 48 hours long), flash deals and community voted sales too! Did I mention publisher packs as well?
Here are today's current daily deals, as well as the current flash deals:
Daily Deals
- Hitman Franchise - Hitman Absolution 50% off @ $24.99
- Borderlands Franchise - Borderlands 2 50% off @ $29.99
- WarGame: European Escalation - 75% off @ $9.99
- Mirror's Edge - 75% off @ $4.99
- Prince of Persia Franchise - 75% off @ $12.24
- Scribblenauts Unlimited - 33% ooff @ $19.99
Flash Deals
- War of the Roses - 50% off @ $14.99
- Intrusion 2 - 66% off @ $3.39
- Operation Flashpoint: Red River - 75% off @ $13.74
- Natural Selection - 60% off @ $9.99
- Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition - 75% off @ $7.49
- Fable III - 75% off @ $12.49
It looks like Borderlands 2 and Hitman: Absolution are leading in sales so far today, but indie Natural Selection 2 is making a good showing too. It's truly the holiday season and we've truly been blessed with the Steampocalypse Holiday Sale.
A reminder to those who are new to the Steam sale, unless you see the game you want to buy in the daily deals or flash sales wait until it is! Otherwise, wait until the final day of the sale to make any purchases. Otherwise you might be throwing money out the door, but for a good cause. The best cause.

TWD's 50% off is a community voted sale, so I doubt it'll get lower than that on Steam. You can probably find a better deal on other sites with Steam activation though.
Even if the base prices are localised, I THINK the discounts are standard, so ATM Walking Dead is probably 50% off for you. I'm keeping an eye on it so if it goes to 75% I could PM you, not sure if that would help if your problem is internet access though
But being in Germany, I can't check the store as frequently as I'd like! I'm pretty worried I'm going to miss the Walking Dead being 75% off or something... I'd be pretty gutted.
Valve always wait until I'm out of the country or otherwise busy to put on their amazing sales :(
Whats the base price you're getting bluexy? I'm seeing $9.99 USD base, discounted by 75% to $2.49 USD, offers expiring in approx 38 hours 30 min
EDIT: Actually scratch that, double checking over it, a couple of the prices are actually pretty different, Scribblenauts for me is $33.33 at 33% off, looks like the prices are localised :S
Just a quick correction, Mirrors Edge is $2.50 USD not $5.00 USD
I find my hand once again edging slowly towards 'add to cart'. I know I shouldn't but I just want Borderlands 2 so bad. Tempted to go for Hitman aswell.
EDIT: Valve just aren't playing fairly now. Every game on my wishlist (excluding DA2 and Crysis 2) is now on offer.
