$2 million in Nintendo hardware stolen from warehouse, unclear which consoles were taken

A depressing event has been made oddly amusing as ABC News is reporting that over 7000 Wii consoles were stolen from a warehouse over the weekend. While an apparent $2 million in stolen property is hardly a laughing matter, ABC's confusing ignorance on what hardware was actually stolen is sure to make more nerds giggle. At least a bit. 

The article refers to the stolen property as Wiis throughout the article, but claims the retail price of each unit is $300. That, across 7000 consoles, is clearly how they reach their $2 million insurance claim. So it appears they mean Wii U consoles as opposed to standard Wiis which retail at half the price. However, there's also this curious quote: 

"The thieves managed to get away with 7,000 portable Wii gaming consoles after raiding a warehouse at SeaTac’s Seattle Air Cargo."

Perhaps ABC is actually referring to Nintendo's portable 3DS handhelds? It's all rather confusing and hilarious. I apologize for turning this into a story about how non-gamers are still confused as to what a console is, let alone the difference between a Wii and a Wii U. Hopefully the story is updated soon in order to clarify the specific details of the robbery.

All jokes aside, it's still a very depressing story. Hopefully the consoles weren't waiting to be delivered to homes for the holidays, or if they were, hopefully Nintendo can manage to rush some more packages out so kids and adults alike can receive the gift they wished for.
