Japanese publications may have first dibs on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, but the Internet has ways around that. Ahead of the game's first trailer -- expected some time this week -- leaked magazine scans reveal Lightning's new outfit, designed by Testuya Nomura.
Right off the bat, Lightning's looking leagues different than how we remember her from Final Fantasy XIII-2. Sure, her lack of woman curves are still being shown off, but there's definitely a more masculine touch to the whole getup. Could be the spikes and all those other sloping shapes; or perhaps it's the diabolical mantle she's got on her shoulders? Not sure what is going on with those pants, honestly.
Well, whoever said fashion had to make sense?
That's basically just her default outfit. Beyond this, you've got over 20 others to unlock. Because hey, it's not a JRPG without all the outfits.
In terms of gameplay, the same magazine says that Lightning can now move freely about the environments, including the city and its many obstacles. Stealth will also be a thing now, though in what capacity, we've yet to know for sure.
Thanks for the tip, Rabla!
