After STALKER 2 was finally canceled this past April following news and speculation, it seemed all hope might be lost for the once great series. Well, now something is happening: publisher bitComposer has acquired the rights to future STALKER games, and imply they plan to publish "triple-A" STALKER games with it.
The rights have been acquired through the recently deceased co-author of Roadside Picnic, Boris Natanovich Strugatsky. The novel has served as the foundation for all STALKER games. bitComposer "[expresses] its gratitude" to Strugatsky.
It's not clear at this stage if previous series developer GSC will be put to work on the next game in the franchise, or if a new studio will take the helm. For now, we wait.
