Dark Souls II was announced just this weekend, and already we're seeing a petition asking for a Wii U version. The petition, hosted over at Change.org, was started by one Christopher Marcil, who considers the Wii U an ideal platform for the upcoming Dark Souls game. Can't ever accuse him of being slow, at least.
Marcil's reasoning is simply the Wii U's affordability and GamePad functionality. On the petition's page, his statement reads:
I can see many ways that the WiiU could benefit the game, such as managing inventory on the touch screen without having to obscure the player's vision on the TV (the Souls games do not pause, so you must be able to pay attention at all times). The affordability of a WiiU console compared to a gaming PC, and the free online play compared to Xbox Live fees on 360, make the WiiU version ideal for anyone who does not have or want a PS3.
Okay, so we think it's a little silly, but enough people out there evidently agree with Marcil. Since yesterday, the petition has garnered several thousand signatures, and now sits at 7,565 supporters. They've still got a ways to go, but hey, at least we can say gamers are pretty optimistic.
If you missed the CG announcement trailer, be sure to check it out. It's a good one.
