Angry Birds CG movie coming in 2016, produced by guys behind Despicable Me, Iron Man
Yeah, we didn't see this coming either
Angry Birds is certainly getting around, and come 2016, this colorful flock will end up on the big screen. Yes, you read that properly: an Angry Birds movie is on the way. The announcement comes just in time for the series' third anniversary.
The CG movie is expected to arrive the summer of 2016, and is being backed by some pretty big names. Producing the upcoming animated flick are John Cohen, producer of Despicable Me, with Marvel Studios' former chairman David Maisel acting as executive producer. Maisel also happens to be the executive producer of Iron Man, so we're talking about some pretty respectable people here.
Rovio will be retaining full creative control over the film project, however, namely by producing and financing the whole thing "outside the studio system."
