If you bricked your wii to the point where you needed to repair it, you did something very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY wrong.

I was a total noob when it came to doing anything when I wanted to hack my wii but you really have to go out of your way to brick it. Those mods where worth it, and if I had kept it a month more I would have been one of the few to enjoy Fatal Frame 4.

No,it just bans the warranty for you.
your point? nintendo dint exactly care after sys menu 4.3, they even charged you full price for fixing a homebrewed wii just like they would charge for a wii that lacked warranty

Would be pretty interesting if they get any farther with this, right now, it seems to be like the 3DS, not able to do 3DS,stuff, only DS things.

lame . I never hack or modify my console so this news is disappointing. Homebrew destroyed mario kart wii online and some others if I recall. SMH whatever though ...
Quite the contrary it prolonged their lives. Modding and homebrew has led to plenty of amazing things on the wii. It also means no bullshit region locking.
It is what it is I guess.

Its prob the equivalent of Horizon modding for xbox however you get console banned if you get caught using that

Given the context of the paragraph and the full sentence, I don't believe it's misleading at all, qwertymodo. While I agree the Homebrew channel is, as far as console modifications go, a generally reliable piece of software, I would never encourage someone to install it without lengthy and extensive research.
Bluexy i am one of the experienced hombrew folk around here (some people here owe me for having an HBC in their wii) so i can attest that is pretty much safe install the HBC, send me a PM if you have any doubts on it, as long as you get your stuff right from the source, given how the installers work, on 4.2 and 4.3 some people have modded them to damage a wii, same goes for bad .WADS (install files of multiples purposes) there are some bad .WADS floating that completley toast a wii beyond repair.

"...the Homebrew channel is just as likely to brick your Wii U as open up the potential for development on your console."

While it's true that this opens the door for you to run potentially poorly-written homebrew which may brick your console, this is misleading. The Homebrew Channel and its installer have not caused a single confirmed brick in all of the time it has existed. The same can not be said of Nintendo's official updates, which bricked hundreds if not thousands of consoles during their shoddy boot2 update included with System Menu 4.2.

This is sad for the people who bought this hoping the online wouldn't be the same as the Wii (Hackers, hackers everywhere...). Now we just need the 3DS to get some support. Flash carts must get boring after 2 years.
