This is going to be an epic game, Kojima won't disappoint. After watching the teaser and nearly pissing myself (I'll admit, I did), I've been hanging out to play it.

GZ could be next year, while MGSV could be 2014 (surely marking the end of this generation)
That could be it. I also have a suspicion that Metal Gear Solid V and Ground Zeroes are one and the same. It could very much be a case that the mission from the Ground Zeroes trailer is the opening mission to Metal Gear Solid V with the hospital scene being a later mission, Kojima could be naming the trailers after in house mission names.

That said I would love two Metal Gear Solid games in year or two, my mind just isn't focusing on that possibility for some reason. I am constantly thinking of other things that ideally get us less games but possibly a more epic one. Whatever this ends up being Kojima has played us so well as we're still talking about it days after the VGA's.

They must be connected somehow, especially considering this is the first console game since MGS3 that Big Boss has starred in.
Big Boss also starred in Portable Ops and Peace Walker, the respective sequels (story-wise) to MGS3. They are considered cannon to the story.

Yeah, but its only his second console game, which would probably have a flashback of MGS3, PO and PW to bring everyone upto speed with his story. Its either that or Volgin is still alive, which os doubtful.

I don't see us getting two Metal Gear Solid games before the next gen comes out, but I also don't see them launching after next gen either. I think Ground Zeroes is a shorter game that will come with Metal Gear Solid 5.
It depends on the marketing strategy they'll be aiming for. Is Ground Zeroes going to be a downloadable title? A shorter (but still lengthy) open world experience that eases us into a more linear, traditional MGS game in MGSV? It's hard to believe we'll get two FULL MGS console games within a year, but it all depends how long Ground Zeroes has been in development and the size of the gap between them. GZ could be next year, while MGSV could be 2014 (surely marking the end of this generation)

I think that Ground Zeroes is a prologue to this game as both that and this star Big Boss as the central protagonist. Whether they will both be standalone games I don't know, but I recall Kojima saying that Ground Zeroes was running on a PC built to Xbox 360 specification, it is a current gen title. Now with the Moby Dick Studios website also confirming this game as a current gen title I don't see us getting two Metal Gear Solid games before the next gen comes out, but I also don't see them launching after next gen either. I think Ground Zeroes is a shorter game that will come with Metal Gear Solid 5.

Other screenshots show someone who looks Volgin, and areas from MGS3. They must be connected somehow, especially considering this is the first console game since MGS3 that Big Boss has starred in.

Maybe they will just be flashbacks or someshit though.

Im with demonfurby, mgs4 was a let down in the stealth department. Heres hoping mgs5 plays a bit more like 1-3. Just, with all the franchises this gen going action-heavy... Bit worried.

And mgs5 came out for pc... Id upgrade my pc just for it.

Hopefully there's some stealth in this one. 4 was a disappointment. I'm still not sold on Ground Zeroes.

Maybe when Kojima said he want to move away from Metal Gear he meant that literally, as in away from the name itself. He never actually said he wanted to move away from the series's universe.

Or maybe hes just trolling because he know us fans will be snooping around and speculating, it would be pretty funny if Project Ogre has nothing to do with Metal Gear but the characters look alike.

So liquid on a fire unicorn vs Liquid on a flying whale vs big boss on on a space techno leprechaun. Please Kojima let this be a fighting game of epic proportions.
