Last year's Nintendo Direct for the month of December didn't land until the day after Christmas, the 26, but this year's comes a little early. Nintendo of America tweeted this morning that December's Nintendo Direct would be released tomorrow and that we should expect, more info on upcoming #WiiU and Nintendo #3DS games! They've since updated us with more info, saying the video will be released at 9:00 AM PT at this link.
It's worth noting that the Wii U has yet to be released in its country of origin, Japan, as of yet. The device will launch on December 8 and the timing of this Nintendo Direct is likely designed to help build up some buzz going into the event. While the launch line-up is relatively similar, though with the notable addition of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, there's likely to be some hype-building announcements made that the wider world would be interested in.
For instance, we've been hearing about an HD Yoshi's Island game for a while now, Pikmin news has been stale lately, and heck as far as announcements go who knows what to expect, really. Honestly, what the Nintendo Direct event is probably going to focus on is providing some release dates for some already announced games. There's literally less than a handful of Wii U games that haven't yet been released with verifiable release dates right now. Oh, and that TVii thing too.
Game or otherwise, the Nintendo Direct event will be fun for everyone who tunes in, simply because those guys at Nintendo are great fun to watch. They're not hip, but they're certainly lovable. Look forward to it.
