thanks fluidity, it popped up later in the evening.

I died on the first boss in the forest as well by using that tiny sword weilding puppet, then i did it again with Oliver spamming fireball and strong coffee

Passed both levels and it kind of disappointed me. One thing is child games made for adults like Kingdom Hearts, but this... just looks too childish.

Also Drippy's english voice is, the worse thing I've ever heard.

Truth is sometimes a demo isn't very faithful to the finished game, but for now, I'm erasing this game out of my "to get" list.

I can't beat the stupid volcano level. I can't make it to the top in time. I hate timed adventure crap like this. And I'm not that good at the battle system either. Even if I make it to the boss, I have a feeling it's going to kill me.

I don't like Drippy's English voice either, but there's always the option of playing with Japanese voices.

I agree with Kayla, it is rather childish. I did, however, thoroughly enjoy both the environments and direction. Very reminiscent of Howl's Moving Castle, imo.

Childish or not, I haven't played an RPG (or any other video game) since the end of June, so it'll have been about 7 solid months since I've had my fix. Nothing else has even caught my attention in that period of time, so I'm really looking forward to NNK to give me something to do.

2013 seems to be loaded with good RPGs though.

----------

Edit: I managed to make it to the top of the Volcano, and I beat the boss on my first attempt. I was thinking that I sucked at this battle system, but some people said the boss was hard? I didn't even heal or anything, in fact I barely got hit by him? Anyways, I'm looking forward to the game, but between all the familiars and other party member(s), things seem a little chaotic. I'm not sure how I'll go about my strategies when I play the actual game.

Also, I went back and redid the 1st Level. I didn't fully complete the demo last time, but I did this time. The cutscenes were nice, and the concept seems interesting enough. I think it'll be fun overall. Though I won't lie, I'd have preferred 100% Turn Based battle system.

I found that the reason why I couldn't beat the first boss is because I didn't know I could run around (nub). I just let my character stand there and tried to attack as the boss brutally beat on me, lol. Once I found out I could run around, I found the battle system to be very easy and actually quite enjoyable once I got used to it. I think it's crazy how much damage you can avoid by blocking though, since you're essentially only using your arms. It goes from like 23 to 7, which is a HUGE difference especially when you're on a lower level. The system is definitely different, but it's realistic and seems like it can be very effective if used properly. Although I agree with Tenshi, I would have loved to see turn-based battles.

I beat both the demos yesterday and while the game does seem a little childish, I think I'm still going to give it a shot. The environments were beautiful and if you think about it, that was a lot for a demo (at least that I'm aware of; haven't played one in years). For the love of God people, it's Ghibli and Level 5!

I haven't played it since yesterday but I enjoyed it. The boss fight was awkward because I didn't know wth was going on for a bit. Battle System reminds of of Crisis Core so it was an easy learning process there. Whooped the forest Guardian on the first attempt with the little sword and shield guy.

Definitely love the graphics and yeah, reminds me of Howl's Moving Castle alot which is great.

I'm going to have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the demo. I may be blindsighted because I love games where the monsters are actually good, or because I'm a nut for Ghibli and Level 5... But I really did enjoy the demo a whole lot. Sure it looks childish, but to me, it doesn't stray too far away from the style of HMC, Spirited Away, Ponyo, or Arrietty, so it felt perfectly fitting to me. Combat did take a while to get used to, especially with the whole cooldown for defense, but it's really just all about timing. Drippy's voice seemed super out of place for me (that's probably the one thing that I never really got used to.) Other than that, I had a lot of fun with the demo. Spent the entirity of the Forest section just fighting on the main map.

Also, to anyone having trouble with the battles: Keep in mind that Oliver can heal and use restorative items. (You all probably knew this already, but I didn't figure this out until my second playthrough, made things a lot more manageable.) And D-Pad down auto swaps between Oliver and his most recent familiar. Oh, and keep an eye on Drippy.

Anyway... My verdict is that I loved the demo, and can't wait to see how the full game plays.
