What if Traveller's Tales made the game outright with no LEGO involved?
I doubt they would, but...

Shame. Each year I was expecting this at E3. Each year I was disappointed. Each year rumours of setbacks and other such were released.
I was so excited when the rumors of Spark Unlimited working on it were floating around. They had listings for stuff that sounded like Battlefront on their website, outright said that they weren't working on specific projects (Dead Space 3) but when people asked about BF3, they declined to say anything. Then it turned out that they were helping with Lost Planet 3...

No thanks on Lego Star Wars Battlefront though.

Shame. Each year I was expecting this at E3. Each year I was disappointed. Each year rumours of setbacks and other such were released. I still hoped.
Now this info has been released, I'll just move onto other things. However, as much as most wouldn't want it, Traveller's Tales could implement an improved version of the "Battlefront" mode in the next LEGO Star Wars game.

I WANT BF 3! WHY CANCEL? THIS WOULD KILL COD AND HALO!
No it wouldn't. Casual gamers are always going to choose the realistic modern war shit. And Halo has drawn too many people in for it to be overtaken by a Star Wars game.

99% percent finished. What a huge mistake they made by letting this game go unplayed.

Obviously the new leads of LucasArts created completing the experience far more problematic than was value it. If they were 99% done then its apparent someone desired it to not come out. Why would another designer want to choose up a activity title that was so finish but was still decreased by higher? Appears to be like a snare to me.

To those who keep saying "omg do a kickstarter!", it might be a nice idea, but...have you ever heard of licensing, non-compete clauses, or intellectual property? Everybody with any type of ownership in the unfinished game would have to be on board or the devs would risk (read: definitely have) lawsuits.

99%? How did we not know about this sooner?

I'd imagine it would be easy to complete at this point. Any developer that would pass up easy money is got to be crazy.

If only the people in charge of star wars games would realize that we want a battle front game, not a crappy "mature" 1313 or some canon screw up forced unleashed *sigh*
Battlefront 3 could have made them so much money, and made so many people happy

Huge disappointment, could have brought some dignity and class back into the online shooter genre, something that has completely been lost over the past few years.

This makes me sad Battlefront was my favorite of the popular Star Wars games... Can't believe we were that close to getting a new one.

Hopefully Disney will show common sense and release BF3. Not this BF3, but they'll find someone to do it.
You know
i'm wondering if Disney actually owns certain star wars franchises. Obviously they own the movies but I think some games like BF3 and Kotor and the like are still leased out...

What I don't understand was how this game got to 99% completion without any publicity. Where they just going to mysteriously show up in gamestop stores one day?
There was some publicity, some leaked footage and such. I was expecting a reveal at a dev conference or something similar, like E3 or PAX.

Such a shame, I'm sure myself and all the old regulars at the BFII forum would have loved a third iteration. :/
