Great. I buy it through Steam and that will be me pissing Virgin Media off with bandwidth usage, or I could buy it on disc.

Seriously though, with Bluray drives now existing and getting cheaper, it's about time publishers start to try and push that as a optical media for PC.

Isn't GTA4 still uncrackable to this day?
Surely everything is crackable. Few mods and GTA IV stops requiring GfWL and Steam for me.

If i were them i would never release a PC version of GTA5 simply because of how many games are being illegaly downloaded via torrent sites. Look at The Witcher 2 for example, that game was torrented more times than actually bought, the developers themselves confirmed this.
So? You do know that The Witcher 2 still sold incredibly well right? Not to mention if TW2 was console only it would have sold poorly because it isn't a casual RPG that console players are accustomed to.

A lot of people who pirate try the game before they add to their steam library. Not to mention there's piracy on consoles too that are still active.

Witcher 2 is a unique case because they advertised or bragged that the game was being released without DRM, making it effortless to pirate. They then went to suing those who uploaded/whatever the game.

Despite Rockstar spending heaps on the DRM it was still cracked within the first week, although some early cracks apparently had issues with constant camera sway similar to Niko being drunk constantly. To my knowledge later versions weren't cracked, but if my memory serves me right the most frequently modded version (1.0.7.0) was,

Piracy on consoles is nowhere near as bad as PC, the witcher 2 was pirated roughly 4.5 million times, imagine if you were the developer, how would you feel about this?

I'm pretty sure they felt quite good about it as it showed that their game was desirable. Again, they paraded their 'no-DRM' all around before the release.

They made a shitload of money, so I would personally feel fine. Most of the people that 'pirated' TW2 and never rebought it are people who would have never bought the game in the first place. It isn't a 'lost sale', it's a sale that was never going to happen.

If you honestly think an actual RPG with depth would sell well on consoles you're pretty delusional. I'm not even talking about a port either, where hype was made for the game by PC gamers. An actual meaningful RPG that isn't a casual snoozefest would sell terribly on 360/PS3 and only attract a small audience.

This whole petition thing is silly...
I was elated when I heard that the PC version would be released at a time apart from its console counterparts.
A developer as solid as rockstar would definitely take that extra time into putting extra polish on all the features, making sure everything is well-fit for the PC. Hell, we might even see extra content that the consoles dont get. :3

This petition is just ridiculous. Consider, if you will, the facts:
  • Every major GTA game has made it to PC. That's GTA III, VC, SA, IV.
  • GTA SA for PC was announced 1.5 months before it was released on the consoles
  • GTA IV for PC was announced 4 months after it was released on the consoles
So, not only is V more or less guaranteed to be released on PC, the past shows that it's very unlikely to be announced until the game is out, February next year at the absolute earliest.

Complaining about this is just children being children. It's going to happen.

I agree that the petition is pointless. Of course it will make it to PC, some people like to make a fuss and pretend they're important by campaigning for something.

There's no evidence to suggest PC will just get a "second-thought port". They forget the modding community which improves a PC game over a console version (if you're into that stuff).

Someone earlier was defending piracy by using The Witcher 2! Ridiculous. Of course RPGs sell well on the consoles. JRPGs, Bethesda, borderlands, Dragon Age...

I'm guessing you are one of these pirates then.
You don't really believe that bolded part do you? Seriously? You think the devs would be fine with their game being pirated more than it was purchased? It does'nt matter if they made a 'shitload of money'. Fact is they could've made a shitload more if it wasn't for pirates.

Personnally I think pirates are kind of shooting themselves in the foot. Eventually all devs will realise that it simply isn't worth developing for PC and suddenly all those pirates will be left out in the cold with only Angry Birds and Checkers to play on their machine. Being a PC dev is 2x harder than a console dev because you have to sell twice as many copies to earn the same amount.

So you're assuming because Im a PC gamer I'm a pirate? Lol okay, I use Steam for almost all of my games. I don't support piracy either, the point is that THERE'S NO USE FIGHTING IT because it only harms consumers. Being a PC dev is fine if you actually make a good video game and put it on Steam. Your '2x harder' statement is bullshit.

Most developers have to severely dumb their game down in scope, graphics, etc. to develop on 7 year old hardware. Oh yeah, they'd probably have to simplify it and casualize the game to hell for the console crowd too. Just look at any series that switches from a PC-oriented to console-oriented crowd. Crysis 1 and Warhead were very decent shooters, while Crysis 2 was a shitty shooter with horrible graphics and a braindead AI.

I'm not assuming you're a pirate because you're a PC gamer. I assumed it because that's how you came across in your posts. It kinda felt like you were defending piracy or at least trying to excuse piracy.
