Absolutely be worried for the future of the series, but at the same time, realize all good things must eventually come to an end.

If you consider how influential the series has been on the stealth-action genre, this can be seen as a good thing. He'll be able to devote more time to his other projects, and maybe we'll even hear more about them, since they always seem to get shafted by the press whenever there's a MGS game in production.

Don't worry Kojima, you'll always be "the ZOE guy" to me. <3

It must get tiring for Kojima San. He's proud of his greatest achievement, but also wants to leave it behind and delve into new IP's and ideas. It's a hard predicament to be in, especially with such a dedicated MGS fanbase. Thankfully Metal Gear hasn't turned into an annual franchise, and been watered down, so hopefully he's got lots of other plans up his sleeve to beaver away on and unleash on us after Ground Zeroes!

well, the book we call metal gear was already slowly closing. it's sad to hear it but i feel kinda comfortable too.

it's how it should be.

As much as I love the MGS franchise and its interquels (I love Peace Walker!) The resolution I accept is MGS4 so while its fun and even enlightening, the MGS franchise is over to me. I don't want it to end up like Star Wars and its extended media, as much as I love those too...

Kojima should create some games other than Metal Gear...

your not the only one. when i played mgs and vr missions on ps1 i couldn't stand it. once played zone of the enders it changed my view and made me want to play MGS just for the story line. now i have mgs4, hd collection and Z.o.E. hd special edition (wish i got the japan edition though). Zone of the Enders the 2nd runner will always be my favorite game through out my life. that is unless Z.o.E. 3 comes out on ps3, i refuse to buy a 'ps4'.

Not to be a douche or anything, he should at least feel grateful hes one of the few people even given a title for their success of game titles, you know, sure is alot better than "unemployed guy" If he wants to create games he wants, then do it, stop being pressured

Doesn't sound like hes saying "no more Metal Gear" just that we might be seeing less of it or at least he won't be as involved in the series anymore.

Which is fine since I've been wanting to see what else this guy can come up with. We might actually see more games like Metal Gear Rising or Ground Zeros, games that take place in the MGS universe but don't necessarily have much to do with the main story, or like Kojima said meant to build funds and develop new ideas.

Metal Gear is already legendary.

As much as I'd love for more MGS games to come out.. It's time Hideo shows us some more of his skills.

I wanna see him make a new epic story from scratch.
That would be great.

Metal Gear should be done soon, not sure what else they could really do with the universe unless they do a new time period with different characters, but then that'd be pretty much a new IP..
Ground Zeroes does look awesome though.

I'd love to see a game centered around The Boss, and from what I've read here and there it seems like it'll happen eventually.

Other than that, yeah, they could sort of make new IPs or spin-offs based on other characters. The only problem would be making it interesting.

For instance, I'd maybe like to see a game about the escapades of members of Foxhound, Dead Cell, The Cobra Unit or maybe even the Beauty and the Beast Unit, but finding a way to make it feel necessary seems like it would be difficult. I'd probably enjoy it no matter what, but making a game with no apparent reason behind it might seem silly to some folks. It needs to have ties to the main story of MGS or it'll risk seeming like dead weight in the franchise.

Either way, I'm content with what MGS we have now (other than wanting them to finish up the whole Outer Heaven/Cipher storyline they've started with Peace Walker, but that goes without saying), so if it ends soon I'm fine with that.

Also, I respect whatever decision he makes, but I take what Hideo Kojima says with a grain of salt when it comes to these things. He's been saying this stuff for years now.

You know I always had an inkling that Zone of the Enders was the future that happened because of the events of Metal Gear. I have no idea why I think that other then the politics and similar mecha designer...

I wouldn't mind seeing Hideo make some more great games (continue on Zone of the Enders?) But hopefully he doesn't kill of MG...

issue here being that he had called it quits before, when MGs3 and the PSP games launched he had 0 intentions of continuing MGS or MG as a general thing, he was dragged to produce MGS4
