Binding of Isaac: Rebirth breaking PC exclusivity, heads to consoles
Mobile still up in the air, due to concerns over controls
The Binding of Isaac proved to be an incredible success, selling over a million units across PC and Mac its first year out. Now the controversial horror title is taking the console plunge, through publisher Nicalis.
Isaac creator Edmund McMillen revealed that a console version was on the way during a recent interview. While no specific platforms were mentioned, we do know this version will support local co-op, new 16-bit graphics, and still "look and feel like the Flash version."
But what took so long, exactly? The delay might have something to do with McMillen's outlook on game development. He states that after spending two years on Super Meat Boy, he wasn't keen on getting back into that sort of business.
"I didn't want to deal with anything when it came to business," he said. Fortunately, Nicalis is now handling all the tasks McMillen loathes. Regarding a mobile version of Isaac, the dev noted some worries over game controls.
For those unfamiliar with Nicalis, the publisher previously brought the remake of Cave Story to Wii, DS, and 3DS, then VVVVVV to the 3DS eShop.
