It looks like Shadowrun Returns won't be returning quite as early as originally expected, as developer Harebrained Schemes announced it's being delayed to May or June 2013. The Kickstarter-funded game was scheduled for release in January 2013, but it seems all the extra content from the stretch goals requires more work. Producer Mitch Gitelman had the following to say about the release date change:
It might've worked for the scope of the game we originally envisioned but as our ambitions (read that "features list") grew, so did the time we needed to deliver! Plus, we made a big move from our original top down camera to an isometric point of view and that took serious R&D time. Right now, according to our estimates, we're looking at May or June.
All the extra work should pay off and give Kickstarter backers and gamers everywhere a brilliant single player, 2D, turn-based RPG. Just it'll be a little later than first said, but not too far behind. Shadowrun Returns is set to appear on the PC, Mac, Linux, and tablets.
