British actors are arguably better at American accents than American actors are at British ones. thats cause American accents are so easy to pull off, even Boston\Bronx\southern.

I better see some very impressive dailies or I'm gonna be pissed...
Getting a British actor (Hurray!) to play an American.

Out of 10 that this will work... 2/10.
Yes because no British actor in American tv or film pulls off being an America. Rick from the Walking Dead wasn't on Teachers on Channel 4 in 2001 and Christian Bale is certainly not an Englishman playing all American playboy Bruce Wayne.
I'm aiming at Tom himself not all British actors. His accent is very strong.

Hugh Laurie.
Daniel Day-Lewis as all-American hero Abraham Lincoln. The list goes on tbh.

Even if the movie is crap, at least I'll have some eye candy, so whatever.

Fisher's been getting younger-looking each game. If they casted Hardy, it's pretty obvious they're going for the Conviction-Blacklist Fisher instead of the original.

Tom Hardy did pretty damn well at hiding his accent in Warriors indeed. I didn't realize he was English until I looked it up.
And if I'm not mistaken, didnt he also speak like an American in Black Hawk Down?

Ubisoft revealed today that in their upcoming Splinter Cell flick, Sam Fisher will be played by Tom Hardy, whom most of you might remember as Bane in Dark Knight Rises.
Sounds pretty clear that Hardy is meant to be Sam Fisher. Ironside is in his 60s, dude's too old to play a working field agent.

Maybe Hardy is another SC agent working alongside Fisher, and you hear Ironsides voice through a radio all the time, then you see Ironside dressed as Sam at the very end where he meets up with Hardy and complete the last part of the mission together. It would be an awesome buildup and payoff.

I'm a big Splinter Cell fan, and I think this could work. I have faith in Hardy's acting, even if his voice is a bit out of place. I would bet there is going to be an Ironside cameo, for sure. It also depends if they are going for the older, chiseled veteran, or the Conviction/Blacklist Fisher.

And as a side note, they may not be 100% using Sam Fisher. There are many Splinter Cells in Third Echelon (none of this Fourth bullshit).

A lot of it revolved around finding the right Fisher. Hardy has huge shoes to fill.
