Call of Duty: Black Ops II just arrived yesterday, but already the sales numbers are quite impressive. Retail gaming giant GameStop revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops II sold one million copies during the midnight launch. GameStop president Tony Bartel had the following to say:
Black Ops II is shaping up to be our biggest game launch of all time. GameStop sold more than 1 million units worldwide during our midnight launch period.
The new CoD could also break some sales records when all is said and done. An analyst with Piper Jaffray Cos. estimates 6.5 to 7.2 million copies will sell in the first 24 hours after launch in the U.S. and U.K. If that happens, it'd either match or exceed the sales numbers of Modern Warfare 3 by nearly 10%. Sales in the first 24 hours usually account for 25 to 35% of the total through December, but regardless that's a lot of copies.
