Switching over my subscription to digital so I can see the full article. Should get it sometime tomorrow. First off, is it just me or does the guy on the left look like a mix between Jack Nicholson and Johnny Knoxville?

What an article. I didn't like the idea of 3 protagonists, but I think they will be able to pull it off.
It was a very interesting article. Sounds like so much fun stuff to do. I'm sure there will be more they left out. Cant wait for this.

That map would not be legit, it has SF, LV and SD? on the map. Pretty sure none of these are in V.
The layout in SA was way out in regards to reality. From the sounds of the article it will be a pretty realistic replica of Los Angeles and its surrounds only. No other large cities.

Since there are 3 protagonists, maybe we should get 3 trailers, one from each guys point of view. The first one seamed to be based of Micheal's story.

If all three are going to be doing their own thing at a time, chances are the AI's going to be great, so you really shouldn't have to worry about them on missions.
But if the AI is so great that they don't need your help, then the game can play itself. You can pick the least involved role and just sit back.
Seems like a very, very fine balance between AI that can do it all for you, and AI that needs you playing 3 characters at once.

What makes you assume the enemy AI won't be the same, or even better than your partners?

I think that map that was posted is made-up. After zooming in, you can see the cities of San Fierro, Las Venturas and even Vice City. I don't think all of those places will be implemented.

HAHA! Glad you are coming round to the idea. I had my concerns about the 3 protagonists aswell. I worried the switching process would be narrative or progress driven and annoying. I was worried it would happen outwith the players control. I am glad its instantaneous in a kind of fast travel type system. That sounds awesome. It also sounds like the game runs at a very high performance if you can zoom out and across the whole GIANT map in a few seconds. Very impressive.

I think you are right. Even the screens look like a much more realistically layed out city.

Please, someone confirm if that map is real or not.
I doubt it. The geography doesn't seem right. In SA the ocean was directly south and east of LS.
Yeah, that map is ridiculously big and the placenames just aren't inventive enough for Rockstar.

Definitely liking what I am seeing in the GI article. Three protagonists is an interesting idea to have for the game and I can't wait to see more of it.

I wondering whether the three characters will have their own missions or will share the same missions. I'm hoping it's the former.

Each character has their own story arc and missions, these story arcs are interconnected with the other characters so on occasion they will go on epic, complex and multi-tiered missions similar to "Three Leaf Clover" in GTA IV. In those missions you can play as all three at at time allowing you to pick your role based on what you prefer doing.

In the interview on GI they mentioned that fans enjoyed those big epic 'bank job' missions, with the multi tiers. I am one of those. When I think back to the missions of San Andreas, the ones which come to my mind first are the casino robbery missions in which you do the planning building up to the heist and then the actual final heist where it all comes together. I am so glad they've decided to use these missions as the basis for the mission structure. It really does sound like this game could be like 'Heat: The Game'.

One way or another, it's going to be frustrating lugging around two NPCs.
I don't think they're going to be together all the time, just for the really important core missions. That's mostly speculation, but that's my guess.

I love basically everything I read in the GI reveal. Wasn't disappointed by anything I heard apart from not being able to change the physical appearance of the character, but that's hardly a dealbreaker. One thing I do like is that planes are available very early on in the game. I think this is a smart decision not only in terms of gameplay, but it means we can hop into a plane at the start, get into the air and look/drool at the wonder that is this new landscape.

Especially given that the render distance has been increased so you can go up even higher now without things de-spawning and everything looking low resolution. I think the planes are going to be one of my favourite vehicles given how polished everything is meant to look, the most spectacular views will be from the sky I think.
