Haha, I knew it. They changed the-guy-on-the-lefts appearance since the trailer.

There's some silly rumours about who these 3 characters are. Many people saying the guy on the left is Claude (from GTA 3), middle guy is CJ (San Andreas) and the man on the right is Tommy Vercetti (from Vice City, of course). Wishful thinking yes, but gosh how I'd love it to be Tommy Vercetti... It'd almost be too good to be true!

I got to thinking the other day about how much better GTA IV would have been if it had had 3 playable characters. Niko (the main character of the game), Johnny (from the Lost & Damned) and Luis Lopez (from the Ballad of Gay Tony). I think Rockstar would have been onto a winner there, what with their stories coalescing in the way that they did. Just imagine if you could play GTA IV with it's accompanying two episodes of DLC, and the story all intertwined, swapping between the three characters.

Now i'm guessing this is how GTA V will work, with three playable characters each with their own strengths and perks (maybe one character can call for back-up from his homies? Or maybe one has an inside man in the police, allowing him to commit certain crimes without activating a certain wanted level?)

It would certainly be interesting if it were Claude, CJ and Tommy, but I'm about 100% positive it isn't the case.

I'm pretty hyped to see this in action. Some time after IV's release, I had an idea for a GTA-type game where you played 3 characters you could switch between at any time, and I think (not sure, can't find the email in my records) that I e-mailed the idea to Rockstar, basically saying 'if anyone can make this game work, it's you.' It might've been one of those automatic send-your-feedback forms on their site.

The fact that you said about 100% positive kinda says you aren't quite 100% sure hahaha

Kinda seems like they listened, eh bro? It's a great idea. Something sandbox games haven't truly touched upon. Switching between characters allows us to view everything from different perspectives. Also ramps up the epicness- anyone see the ending of Assassin's Creed Revelations? An ending that intertwines Ezio's, Altair's and Desmond's story into one climatic scene... perfection.

That's so if it turns out to be them, I can say I said 'about'. Shhh, that's my little secret.

R* said there wasn't multiple protagonists. Obviously they lied so people wouldn't know. I'm not complaining, It's going to be awesome either way. I'm looking forward to how they well they pull this off.

I can't wait for this game!!!

Makes me wonder how many other things they have lied about to keep their actual vision under wraps. I know we've been told the name of one of the characters before but even that could have been false info at this point. I guess we will find out in about 2 hours when someone puts the 18 page article online for non-Game Informer subscribers to see.

If there's 3 of them, it'd be cool if you could switch at will between the three of them, and each one could be at different areas of the city, or, you could get them all together.

I've said before in other threads that I'm skeptical about multiple protagonists because my experiences of Rockstar using multiple protagonists in Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire were quite disappointing. Obviously those are completely different games, but it still leaves a feeling of skepticism in the back of my mind.

When the first trailer came out and everyone started going on about how much they'd hate the 'old guy' as the playable character I felt like I was the only one who thought it was a good idea. Now that the GI cover has come out, on other forums everyone seems to be saying how 'badass' he looks and he 'doesn't look as old'. I don't even know if I feel any connection to most of the GTA community anymore, most of them sound like retarded kids.

Anyway, I'm interested to see what information will be revealed by Game Informer in 75 minutes and I hope I can get a hold of a PDF or something of the 18 pages because apparently I can't just buy one copy of the magazine, I need a subscription.

I'm expecting them to not be the old characters, i can see grove street graffiti becoming an easter egg.

Ugh, you don't even wanna know what I was reading early elsewhere... people were having a hissy fit over the '3 main protagonists' saying that it was false and that the other 2 characters are just support, even though they explicitly say THREE PROTAGONISTS.

Yeah, I wanted to get the single digital-issue but it's a bummer that you have to get an entire subscription. I'll just pick up the magazine when it comes out.
