Diablo 3 getting an expansion, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm hits next year

Let the expansion speculation commence
Activision Blizzard held its third quarter earnings call earlier today and took the opportunity to drop some major news. Diablo 3 is going to receive an expansion and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is due in the first half of 2013. Goodbye free time, right?
Pretty much every Blizzard game receives at least one expansion and Diablo 3 is no exception. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime announced one is planned, but didn't give any details on when to expect it or even what it'll be about. He did say quality and gameplay of the expansion are a "top priority," so there is at least that bit of information to dwell on. Whether or not Blizzard addresses some of the issues levied at Diablo 3 since its launch is unknown, but there should be plenty of speculation in the meantime.
As for the second part of StarCraft 2, Heart of the Swarm is scheduled for the first half of 2013. If anyone is keeping track, that would put it around three years after Wings of Liberty launched, but who's counting, right? HotS is currently in a closed multiplayer beta showing off new Zerg, Terran, and Protoss units. The game's single player story follows Sarah Kerrigan after the events in the first part.

Diablo 3 was a flop for a number of reasons. Mainly the auction house and the skill tree and the graphics are a bit to cartoony for my liking.

Diablo 3 killed itself when Blizzard decided to base an entire game around the idea of an auction house, instead of trying to create an actual good game. Player base dropped a huge percentage in just weeks, and that's unheard of for a Blizzard game. Not one D2 fan I know has played D3 for more than a week, lol.

The main issue from what I could tell was the lack of end-game content and the repetitiveness of the gameplay. Additional content from the recent 1.04 (Paragon levels) and 1.05(Monster power + super over powered boss rooms) patches did a lot to fix that. Hopefully the expansion focuses on Covetus Shen and his mysterious background.

I remember hearing 1.5 was a good patch for overall balance, never bought the game so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Lmao.. What updates were those?? I haven't played since they added paragns / add # of players. The game is just garbage from the ground up right now imo, they can not fix it. The best they can do is release a really good expansion, and I'm hoping they do. I was really excited for this game, I loved d2.

Yeah Lorx, many people went back to D3 recently due to the newest updates addressing many many issues that people had with the game. It's damn fun.

Yey! Gonna kick Adrias butt and destroy Dirgest with the help of Miriam the Mystic and her ability to re-roll stats, add charms and magic to our daily life. Long live diamond and saphire gems, oh how I missed you guys. But the real question is.. Will it be Xiansai or Kingsport we do our battle? Who cares! We can expect 2 expansions. Woho!

Quality and gameplay better be a top priority for the expansion, because it sure as hell wasn't a priority for what they got now.
