Platinum: "It's really very hard, especially since we don't want to sacrifice visual quality while maintaining a lot of the detail and over the top effects and action. It is very hard and challenging to maintain sixty frames-per-second. Platinum has lot of experience in that area. That's where they excel. From the beginning keeping that sixty frames per action and maintaining that good pace and feel of an action game was a priority. They're not going to compromise on that. Thirty frames and sixty frames are completely different types of games. They're staying at sixty frames"

So they would rather make the game play worse just to have it look flasher? I'm not a developer but wouldn't it make more sense to have a fast-paced action game like those of the DMC series play more fluidly?

I'm not too bugged by this since a lot of games run at 30FPS but deliberately throttling your game to make it look prettier is stupid. I hope that trick of theirs actually works cause I'd rather have a game's frame-rate take a dip from all the action on screen than know its from the devs purposely making it that way.

Whatever the frames rate is I want a great game that surpasses previous DMC series...

Frankly I care less about the framerate and more about them giving us a good game with a decent storyline and weapons where we can unleash ridiculous combos. To me, when game designers start focusing a lot on looks or graphics, the gameplay goes out the window. Examples that spring to mind are C&C Generals and Age of Empires III. In both of these you could rotate the map around and adore the fact they'd designed all sides of the buildings, both of which had utter shit gameplay compared to the previous games.

Its actually plausible that a game capped at 30 play quite well. So long as its consistent and none of the animations require too much fluidity it should be alot better than the average console game fluctuating at 40 fps. If anything for a game like DMC @ 30fps could offer a more intense experience if executed well

Framerates do not matter, just give us a game that is as good as DMC 1, 2 and 3!!!

Those developers lack analytical and high-level reasoning of what the gameplay should be based on the previous success...How did they get the job? Probably crony capitalism!!
