or what if your looking for an all in one media device. i just traded in my 120gb ps3 for the 500gb and the first night i got it i put 300gb worth of video on it. i discovered from my psp go that sony handhelds are not good enough for on the go media a hd 30min video (ie 1 new episode of it's always sunny) now is 1gb.

and console gaming on the go, not at all. it has good graphics but my ps3 has around 100gb of game data alone a vita can not handle that. you'll understand that it's not so great when you see all the gran turismo fans complaining about how small gran turismo vita will be the GT5 has 10gb of just game data.

when sony decides to stop being a-holes and bring out the 500gb-2tb memory cards (yes they do exist look up SDXC theres also sony memory stick xc) then the vita will be worthy of being called console gaming on the go.

Say it with me now, games. G. A. M. E. S. Mainly good ones. No 1tb SDXC, no additional media features no PS+ (although that is a [hurr] plus) but, say it with me again (you too Sony since your not fully grasping the concept of what makes a console popular) gaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmeessss.

PSVita is fine...It's Sony phenomenon that things only get better after one or two years later...

As long as greedy CEOs take millions dollars into their pocket, I don't define Sony as loosing money....So, in this sens, SCEI is doing well.

I'va had a couple chances to play one and the Vita is a good handheld theres no doubt about it, the face buttons could stand to be a tad bigger though. $250 isn't bad for what you get but the "hidden" fee in the form of expensive memory really drives up the cost. Hopefully it will have a library worth the price by the holiday and the bundles should help fix things.

console games on the go is a fine concept but the way they interpret it is wrong. They still seem to be just shrinking down existing IPs. People will be playing them on the go and the key is to make what makes the series so alluring enjoyable in bite-sized chunks. I think thats why Nintendo's handhelds do so well, the games have all the things that make the console counterparts fun without feeling like gimped versions and are just as fun in 15min. as hour long sessions.

Socialist gamer Thats not how profits work, to be profitable you need to have more coming in than whats going out.

I agreed. More coming in but more more money also going into the pockets of CEOs at the expense of casualised workers!!!

Agreed. IIRC Celes Leonhart said something similar to this back before the Vita launched — that most people playing games "on the go" didn't want a console-style experience, but something more fine tuned — and I didn't fully accept it. But now I realise that he and you are absolutely right, and that's precisely why Nintendo (and Apple, actually) have been so successful in this market.

For me, though, the biggest issue with the PS Vita was the frankly outrageous pricing, of, well... everything. Right down from the memory cards to the games on the PS Store.

GAAAAAAMES :[
I love my vita (well I hope I'll love it) but when the only time I pick it up is to move it to the other side of the room, I just get so darn depressed.
There's no way I can sell it since I payed 250$ (plus memory card and tax -.-) and I ate ramen way to long just to buy it. ( I couldn't even get a game that day lol)
gaaaaaames.

PSVita is NOT fine. It is the opposite of fine, at this rate it won't even last a year and profitability is so low that the original PSP is outselling it by a margin in some places. It's not "sony phenomenon" that they completely forget what makes a console it's stupidity. The only reason PS3 recovered from a terrible launch was because Sony finally realized this and rather than learn from their mistakes out of the gate (such as getting as much third party support BEFORE announcing the handheld like what Nintendo did) they do it all over again, and frankly I'm not sorry. It's their own fault for failing to obtain third party support early on, now the Vita is such a massive failure that many third parties are hesitant to try another sony handheld then if you add poor business relations with certain companies (mainly Capcom who despite their practices are goliaths in the gaming world) and you've got a doomed handheld. If Sony can save it they'll need plenty of third party support, if they want third party support they better make damn sure they can come up with plenty of interesting first party games that truly separates a vita from a watered down portable PS3.

As I said before, at this rate the Vita will be the Ngage in a few years and once again Nintendo will have absolute monopoly as always (because even back then the PSP couldn't even touch Nintendo's sales, despite being in a far healthier condition than the Vita was). Monopoly is never a good thing.

Definitely agreed. When the only two big hitters coming out in christmas season are AC3: Liberation and Black Ops: Declassified, there's definitely something lacking.

Hence my prediction on the PSP forums, sony will have to revert to the PSP, and the vita will be something of a.... what was that nintendo quasi handheld that endorsed 3D with red graphics and was huge failure? i cant remember what was it's name, but the vita is actually going trough a similar phenomena, it is failing and there is not much sony can do about it unless they come with a mind blowing idea for a game for it that is the app killer of the system and becomes wildly popular such as Zelda OOT, MM, BK and BT were system killers along DK for the n64, very good titles if you ask me
