It's been six years says the last game -- Dreamfall -- in the Longest Journey saga was released, and that one ended on a cliffhanger. So you can imagine then that fans have been impatiently waiting for resolution. Finally, I've got some news: Dreamfall Chapters is in pre-production, and will serve as a sequel to 2006's Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.
Funcom won't be developing the game. Rather, creator Ragnar Tørnquist will "spearhead development" at his new studio Red Thread Games.
In case you thought maybe Funcom was returning to single player adventures only following the recent disappointment that is Secret World subscription numbers (which would make sense), that's not the case: the reason for this strange and complicated arrangement is because Funcom still wants to focus on MMOs; it's said Tørnquist will continue to server as creative director on The Secret World, all the while working on Chapters.
