Layoffs are never good to hear about, but that's the news surrounding Loot Drop, the studio behind Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Commander. The game was originally slated for Facebook and mobile platforms and work as a tie-in to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
However, this afternoon, studio COO and co-founder Brenda Romero announced that the game had been canceled. As a result of Ghost Recon Commander's cancellation, the studio was also hit with layoffs.
The unfortunate news appeared on her personal Twitter:
"Sad news. Today, Ghost Recon Commander was cancelled. As a result, we laid off a team of kick-ass developers. If you have openings, ping me."
In her following tweets, Romero urged her followers to help with finding the jobless new work, saying she "personally recommend[s] these devs." Among the companies that have responded to Romero's request are PopCap and Obsidian.
As for Loot Drop, the studio has two other projects still in the works, with one already live and the other still in design stages.
