Not surprisingly, Assassin's Creed III has broken all pre-order records for the series, showing that after five years, interest in the series is stronger than ever. Ubisoft revealed today that the upcoming "third" installment boasts more than double the pre-orders Assassin's Creed Revelations had last year.
At GameStop alone, pre-orders are "nearly 100% higher" than Revelations' were in 2011, at least according to the retail chain's president, Tony Bartel. Now toss in other retailers like Amazon.com, and Ubisoft must be feeling pretty darn confident.
Pre-ordering Assassin's Creed III does have its perks. Ubisoft is utilizing the Season Pass DLC system, where game owners basically pre-purchase DLC for a discounted bulk fee. Reserving the game also snags you the "Tyranny of King George" add-on, a "what if" type of scenario surrounding George Washington after the American Revolution. If past Assassin's Creed installments are any indication, however, we already know that DLC will be released later as paid content.
