Well it's only like the beginning stages of the game. Hopefully it will look and get a lot better. It looks meh now, but like I said: It's still the beginning of the game, they're still testing a lot of stuff, blah blah blah etc.

It reminds me of Portal a lot tbh. .-.'

Can someone explain the appeal to them though? From what I've read there isn't a building mechanic like Minecraft, and if there is I don't think "Minecraft in Space" is gonna fly all that well. I think if you were to go to different planets or something like that, a more adventure focus, then I may perhaps be interested but at this stage it looks a little... I have no idea.

This video is just to show off the lighting. I don't think shooting is really even a focus of the game. This video would lead you to believe it's just some lame Quake clone, but that's misleading.

From what I understand, the game is about you controlling your spaceship. You have control over nearly everything through the means of a emulated PC within the game. There's certain things you have to keep track of to keep the ship running. This ties into some sort of economic system outside your ship where you can collect materials and trade them, as well as space battles and stuff.

The setting really makes me want to go base *bleep* in Tribes 1
It's coming along... but does he really need an update on every insignificant thing (in the scope of the game)?

Look at it this way, he can have people tell him everything, even the tiny things he does, are amazing, or he can bend over and smell his own farts. I personally think he may be doing both. I like the work that he and Mojang do, but Notch has really been rubbing the wrong nerve with me lately, not even sure why.

Mainly the storyline on the website

In a parallel universe where the space race never ended, space travel was gaining popularity amongst corporations and rich individuals.

In 1988, a brand new deep sleep cell was released, compatible with all popular 16 bit computers. Unfortunately, it used big endian, whereas the DCPU-16 specifications called for little endian. This led to a severe bug in the included drivers, causing a requested sleep of 0x0000 0000 0000 0001 years to last for 0x0001 0000 0000 0000 years.

It’s now the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, and the first lost people are starting to wake up to a universe on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy.

The concept is good, and I'm interested in seeing how it turns out. What you'll see now is bug testing, and if anyone ever got the idea that bug testing is interesting, well, now you know that it isn't always true. He's not even testing gameplay, he's just testing to ensure there's no problems with the lighting engine, physics, collision detection, and other important video gamey stuff.
