Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed won't support voice chat on Wii U
Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are fine though
Looks like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed isn't going to be equal on all platforms. Executive producer Steve Lycett revealed recently that the Wii U version will not support voice chat.
News of this popped up on the game's official forums, when a user linked to news regarding the Wii U's online chat capabilities -- or lack thereof. Voice chat will vary per game, and as of now, only Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3: Wii U Edition and Black Ops 2 will both support this feature. However, players looking to communicate in multiplayer will need to use a third-party headset, as games cannot use the GamePad's native mic.
The Wii U Pro Controller also doesn't have a headphone jack, so you're going to have to plug your headset into the GamePad even if you're sticking with controller.
In regards to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Lycett notes that for those reasons, the Wii U version simply doesn't have voice chat.
"We don't support voice chat on WiiU for those reasons, one of the side effects of being a launch title basically. Does support it on PS3 and 360 though!"
Good to know other versions are fine, at least. Expect the game to land on November 20.

And I really don't get the Pro controller complaint. The Gamepad is the main controller, the Pro is for local multiplayer games. If you're just going to play with the Pro Controller and not use the Gamepad, why are you buying a WIi U in the first place? Just play the game on your PS360.
To me, it sounds like the developer/SEGA is saying "Nintendo consumers don't care about online, don't put development dollars in a feature that audience doesn't care about," the same BS logic as always. (Though, as a Nintendo gamer who doesn't care about voice chat I guess I perpetuate the stereotype). Maybe I should give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk this up to being a launch day port, meaning development times were short and not every feature can be developed to its fullest right out of the gate.
Either way, I'm not planning on picking this game up for any system, so no loss for me.
I probably heard about this game awhile ago and forgot. Hopefully they have better DLC for it and more stuff. Metal Sonic and Ryo-F were the ONLY DLC characters, and I expected at least one or two more characters. I don't count Ryo-F really because Ryo was already in the game, and Ryo-F is just him with a forklift. I have the first one for PS3 and it got boring kinda fast. It probably would of been better if I had some PSN friends to play it with or went online more. The online for racing games really irk me though and it's frustration lol. I played it with somebody at my house like a month or two ago though. I may play it again soon. I wish the PS3 version had a exclusive character too though, it could of had Ratchet and Clank. I don't know if they would seem unfitting, but at least they are partners like Banjo and Kazooie! Which the Xbox has on their version of the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. They also got the Avatar from Xbox, and then of course the Wii got the Mii.
Anyways, I'll definitely be getting this game on PS3! The first game was still fun. Although I hope there is more characters because I just feel like there were NO characters and they all got boring fast.
