The Assassin's Creed film is moving along, and Ubisoft has announced a partnership with New Recency to help cover the costs. On the bright side, New Regency has agreed to let Ubisoft maintain creative control over the movie, ensuring gamers will have plenty of fan service to ogle over.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet remarked:
"We don't want to make games just for the sake of movies. We want to make them in concert with the games.
"Bringing aboard New Regency's renowned production and distribution expertise while maintaining our own creative and financial flexibility ensures that Assassin's Creed will be a high-quality film that respects the lore and fans of the video game franchise."
The publisher-developer is hoping to begin filming next summer.
Previously, Ubisoft revealed that Irish actor Michael Fassbender would be starring in their Assassin's Creed movie as well as co-producing the project. Baronnet even stated that Fassbender was his "first choice". That man's got incredible talent, so we're totally okay with this.
