Battlefield 3 getting colour grading option on PC

If you're one of many still complaining about the blue tint in Battlefield 3, you'll be happy to learn DICE is including a colour grading option in the next PC patch, accessible via the command console. Says DICE programmer Mikael Kalms:

"There will be a console command for disabling the color grading entirely in the game included with the next PC game client update. We believe that turning it off gives no major competitive advantage/disadvantage. IRNV scope and a few others which turn the image into greyscale or greenscale don't work properly without color grading and will look real ugly. There will be no in-game UI for turning it on/off. We are unlikely to handle support questions and bug reports regarding stuff that happens when color grading is disabled."

The bit about competition is interesting, as it contradicts previous assertions by other DICE staff, so apparently it's been the source of debate, but the studio has come to a consensus. If nothing else, perhaps they figure if people are going to tweak the game in this manner on their own and risk a ban, they may as well provide a safe method.

No ETA is given for the new patch, but most likely it will hit shortly before the Aftermath DLC launches in late November and early-mid December.
