Battlefield 3: Aftermath trailer features crossbow, Scavenger mode detailed
Didn't see that coming, did you?
A new trailer is in for the Battlefield 3 DLC dubbed "Aftermath", and quite unexpectedly, features a crossbow. You may notice some jury rigging going on there at the end -- according to community manager Ian "crash7800" Tornay, it's all apart of the survival theme -- this is a post-earthquake environment, after all.
According to previews, the crossbow will be an all-class weapon that replaces the secondary weapon (e.g. C4, grenade launcher, etc), and will feature four types of bolts, including explosive, sniper, detection, and one other currently unknown (perhaps tripwire).
The other big news is the Scavenger mode, in which you're equipped with a knife, nade, and pistol, and must search the environment along with others for better, randomly placed weapons -- so kind of like Gunmaster, but more tense.
Sounds unique and fun, if I daresay so.

I look forward to the setting but i will bebored of this in days as it lacks new weapons. Crossbow yadda yadda black ops bla bla bla. Thats just a gimick. I wanted older weapons which would fit the theme. Maybe some old surplus weapons as the soldiers more modern ones were damaged, lost, destroyed or simply out of ammo during the event. I imagines some old K98's, AK-47's, Uzi's, Enfields etc. Old weapons you would find in the region from past conflicts.
Morbidly dissapointed at the lack of weapons TBH. I have now finished all existing weapon assignments. Pissed off that I bought premium under that pretense.
Mneh. I'll get bored pretty fast as a result probably. I would not buy this DLC if i hadnt already bought premium.
I'd like to see maps on the same scale as Operation Firestorm or Caspain Border. No larger.
Talk about gimmicky.....I'd much rather prefer a proper weapon instead of a daft novelty.
I like the decontructed post disaster look of it all though.
I am disappoint in a crossbow, though. There are plenty of weapons in Battlefield already. I think adding it is kind of gimmicky.
New vehicles, always nice.
New crossbow, would have liked more new weapons...but crossbow is definitely a pleasant surprise.
Excitement level: 8.5
Could rise to 9.5 if the maps are awesome, which if 'urban warfare' is anything to go by, they will be!
