First, the reasoning behind the name "Dragonborn" was already explained. The power given to the dragonborn was the ability to speak the language (shouts). This may not have been explained to those who quickly did the main quest line, but if my memory serves me correct the Greybeards go into detail about what being the dragonborn means (if you talked in depth with them).
Transformation would be highly unlikely in my opinion. You can already perform the shouts so there would be no new addition there. Also why would they include the ability to ride dragons if you would just be able to transform into one? The possible attacks would be very limited as well, so you would basically be transforming into a bigger version of a werewolf with more health, kind of pointless.
Those who have been arguing about fast travel: it depends on how you play the game to determine whether or not fast travel is worth it. For me, when I started out I ran everywhere to explore, fight, and in turn raise my stats. Now that I am a high level, I will fast travel if I am playing a quest line, or searching for specific items and know the location. However, when I have nothing to do I will travel on foot exploring whatever I can find.
Also for those who think flying would be pointless, think of this: Bethesda revamped travel by horseback when they added the ability to attack while riding. This would still be very likely to happen while riding a dragon, the controls are all there already other than a z-axis control. In Oblivion and Morrowind you could create a super powerful levitation spell or potion which you could use to ultimately simulate flying (you could also contol how high in the air you went). I see the combination of what I stated to be the most likely course of action for being able to ride dragons.
.

No levitation in oblivion my friend. (Not a spell anyways)

If Beth themselves said they were there, then they're there, otherwise it's false advertising and that's against the law.

I found the "spears.." they are Riekling Spears.. and they are so small, the player uses them as arrows for a bow.

Wow... I'm uh, pretty disappointed about that.

Yeah i'd heard that they're hand weapons or something, then when you pick them up, they turn into arrows or something.

Now that I think about it, they need a whole new engine to even use Spears[well, to use spears how they are suppose to be used... not as fking arrows >:l]

No, they don't. It may be really hard for us to make new animations, but for them it would take maybe a days work. It really wouldn't take much effort to put throwing spears in.

If anything else i just want a regular Morrowind spear. I can understand/deal without throwing spears, but surely a 2 handed lunging spear wouldn't be that much of a problem in anything.

Assuming that the next game comes out on next-gen I think we will have spears. It's just a disappointment to miss out on them for 2 whole games unless you have PC. :/ It's not like the animation is the problem either considering they can do it in Morrowind.

Just this.
they could add in some br00tal kill cam moves with it too.

a one handed spear would be nice too, slow attack time, long reach, average damage.
