Rumor: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's next DLC data mined, 'Dragonborn' returns to Solstheim
Update Spears, too!
Update: Some more rooting around in the 1.8 patch code has led to a fresh discovery: spears. Several references to spear attack animations were found, which is encouraging news for players felt like their weapons were just too short. Hopefully their are some more Dragonborn surprised remaining in the Skyrim patch code.
The nerds have completed their inspection of every line of code in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's latest patch, and hints at upcoming DLC have been found! Touchdown! Fragments of data were found referencing a number of potential addition, but as always these details are simply rumors. It's impossible to tell if any of this is something Bethesda will be releasing, if its meant to be a red herring, or if it's meant for a different DLC pack down the line. Nevertheless, here's what we know about 'Dragonborn'.
Dragonborn, as its referenced in the code, takes place on the island of Solstheim -- east of Skyrim and northwest of Vvardenfell, but not belonging to any territory in particular. One can only assume there will be dragons on Solstheim, because Dragonborn will apparently give the ability to ride said dragons.
A myriad of contextual references are also made throughout the code: Locations -- Raven Rock, Miraak Temple, Castle Karstaag, Telvanni Tower; Armor Types (possible horse armor) -- Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic, Stalhrim; Enemy Types -- Riekling, Scrib, Netch, Benthic Lurker. Suffice to say, Dragonborn looks to be a Dawnguard sized package.
Hopefully Bethesda will take control of the situation before rumors start to become too rampant and we'll hear a Dragonborn announcement for Skyrim soon.

I can always wait for the GotY edition and then wait another 6 months after that for it to drop to a reasonable price.
After all, Dawnguard was, "choose vampire killers, or turn into super awesome artillery ranged spam avatar of eternal unlife with 2 bodyguards of super awesome unbreakable rock. Choose freely, because honestly we aren't hinting you choose supercool vampire lords that have their own skilltree dude as opposed to vampire killers."
As for dragons flying so fast, even pc mods had to slow down dragon riding because loading all the scenery (imagine a photograph at ground level, then one at human standing eyeline, you can see much more) caused even high end rigs to stutter when travelling at standard dragonflight speed. Im looking for the first Dragon Armour mod, though.
I think walking/riding towards the beginning of the game is pretty fun, especially since there are so many quests to be found. As things slow down and quests get fewer though, I just can't imagine anyone having THAT much fun hiking back and forth between cities. I don't love fast travel, but I'm pretty satisfied with having to have found a location first before getting to fast travel.
Plus, I'm having flashbacks to Morrowind
Now... if a Dragon is willing to give a flight to Solstheim and back I'm down for that. However, to make a Dragon rideable all the time... that's just silly. If they do add it, I definitely would not use it.
Maybe that's just me... but if Dragon Flight was a regular thing it wouldn't make it all that special when Odahviing gave you a ride. Which was probably one of the only times a Mortal was actually gifted the opportunity to ride a Dragon.
But I digress. If they can make it work... go for it. I'm more excited about Spears, XBows, Bonemold, Telvanni Towers possibly being in the expansion then something I find silly.
Also, I wonder if they will ever bring back throwing weapons. Javelins might be saying a bit much (modders can do it though so I don't know) but throwing stars, and knives wouldn't be too out of the question.
And idk why you guys aren't excited about rideable dragons. That sounds like a *bleep*ing sick idea. All I worry about is if they can pull it off without causing the game to crash or something lol
