PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta begins October 16 through PSN, public beta soon
Here's who you can play as, what modes will be unlocked
The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale kicks off tomorrow, giving paying PSN users an early look at the upcoming Sony-tastic fighter. If you're looking to try the game on PS3, then a PlayStation Plus membership is required. PS Vita owners, on the other hand, can jump into the limited beta without a Plus subscription.
Not that Sony is completely shafting non-paying PSN users. The limited beta will come to an end on October 23, at which point, the public beta goes live. So a bit of a wait, but at least everyone will get a shot.
The beta will support Cross-Play, meaning players on PS3 and Vita will be able to fight each other in some cross-platform action. Here's what to expect in terms of content:
- You’ll be able to play as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, PaRappa, and Fat Princess.
- You’ll be able to play in both the Metropolis and Hades stages.
- You’ll be able to try out four-player online tournaments and 2 v 2 online tournaments. For the 2 v 2 games we’ll be supporting friend invites, so you and a friend can fight another team online.
Beta is set to end on October 30. The full game is expected to arrive November 20. Purchasing the PS3 version will automatically get you the Vita version as well.
For the skin fanatics out there, pre-ordering PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will unlock a ton of those, including the following skins shown below.

Also I love the references to different games like Agent Mo said too. It only makes sense to do that!
Pretty easy trophy list, but tbh I don't see why they would make it hard anyways.
From the looks of it, the 20 'confirmed' characters is basically the entire roster. That's pretty minuscule :/

Tbh Sackboy realistically would be with Toro, but Toro fighting Heihachi makes sense should they're both like fist fighters, even though Toro uses his...paws HARHARHAR! Sackboy +Fat Princess would be funny too. He matches up with them both size wise more, but that doesn't mean a small character can't fight a big character. But I can't wait to see Big Daddy's reaction, he will probably try to pick Sackboy up like a little sister, and be like "LOLWTF IS THIS SHIT?!".
Parappa vs. Spike makes the most sense to me because they're both classic PlayStation characters. Spike is probably going to be my main, and Parappa is probably going to be my second character, so this will be interesting for me lol. Oh well, we'll see what happens when the game comes out! This is going to be awesome.
Also like Pokemon Leader said, if anyone wants to add me on PSN I'm "Otaggin". I/we should make up a PSN/Vita name thread soon.
This rivalry story mode seems to be quite good. Is that confirmed info?
If so, I really can't wait for the game. Sly vs Nathan is interesting, two skilled thieves!
BTW I'd like to add as many All Stars players on my PSN account before the game launches. Add me !
PSN: PowerOfSlash
EDIT: Looks like these are the rivalry matchups.
Heihachi – Toro
Nariko – Dante
Radec – Sir Daniel
Kratos – Sweet Tooth
Jak/Daxter – Ratchet/Clank
Nathan Drake – Sly
Big Daddy – Sackboy
Cole – Raiden
PaRappa – Spike
Evil Cole – Fat Princess
Nariko vs Kratos
Dante vs Raiden?
