The article seems to be implying that the publisher will pursue a sequel even if the developer is opposed?

I think the reason the developer would prefer no sequel is so that it remains a unique game in the market unlike xxx game 1 2 3 4 etc. Especially since it uses gameplay that isn't seen in (m)any other games such as having tons of different shooters which are essentialy variations of eachother.

I'd be fine if there wasn't a sequel. I DO want DLC, but I think the game ended where it should have ended. For me anyways.

I will hunt down and kill if they handed Dishonored 2 to Obsidian.

But Bethesda already said they wouldn't be entrusting Obsidian with another project after New Vegas was so terribley made.

Considering how much of the game was left unexplained, I really think some kind of follow-up is warranted.

One roughly six hour romp through this world isn't enough, there NEEDS to be a sequel, even if it is just another 6 or so hours..... I don't think they need to worry about it turning inton a yearly release sort of title, figuring Bethesda doesn't really tend to do that.

I applaud developers when they make decisions like these. Not everything needs a sequel, prequel, remake, movie, etc- despite how good it is.

Um.... What decision? He didn't exactly make one there. He said he would be ok with the decision either way, and when asked which he would prefer he said "I can't say!" So yeah, not really a decision lol.

They can make a sequel, but they should just use a different person on a different continent.

Don't make a sequel, do make another game just as entertaining and enjoyable as Dishonoured.

Arkane Studios seem to have popped up out of nowhere to deliver a very fulfilling game experience but this is a game that doesn't need a sequel.

I'm not saying I don't want to see more of Dunwall or maybe the world around it, it seems to be a fascinating place, but Corvo's story is done as far as I'm concerned. A new protagonist in a different place perhaps, but I don't need a Dishonoured 2.

After the unique world they created for Dishonoured, I'd love to see what Arkane can dream up next.

I think the drive for sequels is mostly one about exploring more of the world, learning more about it, etc. I personally look forward to franchises myself. It's nice to have new IP, and it's nice to have old IP to continue the lore of something you've enjoyed.

ok what is the problem with new vegas? it runs? because i keep hearing FO3 is miles better but it cant run well in windowed mode, it cant run at all if i dont disable my custom tool bar, and even then it crashes within the minute i start playing? AFAIK none of these bugs were solved or even touched upon with the patches (altho i prefer playing stuff unpatched unless it's a TL patch)

Because it's Obsidian's fault they were dumped with Bethesda's shitty Gamebryo engine and expected to make it not run like a sack of crap right?

Dishonoured works as well as it does because it isn't made by Beth directly and doesn't rely on their out-dated and glitchy Gamebryo engine. If Obsidian had been given the chance to build their own engine and create New Vegas from scratch, it could've been something special. Instead they were stuck with a barely functioning game engine that hasn't been properly upgraded or innovated in years and has been known to be incredibly glitchy and bordering on broken in the past.

People seem to be ignoring something important about Dishonoured: It wasn't made by Bethesda.

Arkane Studios are responsible for creating the game, Bethesda are just the publisher. Stop giving Beth credit for the hard work of a development team owned by their parent company Zenimax.
