Nintendo quietly retracts New Super Mario Bros. Wii U 1080p claim
1080p still feasible, just not for this game
Overnight, Nintendo quietly removed the 1080p claim from the New Super Mario Bros. U description on their official site. Yesterday, the website declared that players could "experience Mario like never before... in full 1080p HD." Now, the game description simply reads:
Experience Mario like never before... in high definition, only on the Wii U console!
Well, at least it's still in hi-def. So far, New Super Mario Bros. U demos have all been in 720p, though the Wii U does support 1080p. Downloadable platformer Toki Tori 2, for instance, will support the format come launch.
Of course, Nintendo hasn't commented on this change. Best we can guess is that whoever wrote the description got a little too excited and slipped up.
New Super Mario Bros. U is expected to hit North America this fall, on November 18 alongside the Wii U console.

Still though, that's a lot more work than redoing textures and lighting, and maybe sound.
Not that I wouldn't be happy with a "Zelda collection" with Twilight Princess+Skyward Sword, while I'm dreaming how about we throw Wind Waker in there too.
Ummm... what? In what world did the Wii have the same quality and graphics?
