1.48 million retail sales for September
All that hype and praise for Borderlands 2 hasn't been about nothing: the game sold 1.48 million retail copies during its launch month (September), according to new NPD figures. That's no small feat, especially considering the numbers represent a 234% jump over the original Borderlands and its own launch month sales, and both games launched right around the same time of the month.
As noted, these numbers represent retail copies only. Given the amount of love put into the PC version of Borderlands 2 and how well it's been selling on Steam, you can probably crank that figure to at least 2 million.
