League of Legends stats put Halo and Call of Duty to shame, shows 90% of players are guys
All you could want to know about LoL in 2012
The world loves League of Legends, this much is obvious. Okay, maybe not love, but we can't stop playing it, as a new 2012 infographic shows. Riot Games released some interesting stats for their free-to-play MOBA, and it's definitely entertaining seeing how the numbers stack up against other multiplayer games or Internet memes in terms of popularity.
The Halo community has accumulated over two billion hours since 2004, which is damn impressive, but not so much when you consider League players take to the Fields of Justice for over a billion hours each month. Similarly, League of Legends boasts about 12 million daily users, while Modern Warfare 3's daily player count peaks at 3.3 million. Granted, neither Halo and Call of Duty are free games, and the global appeal isn't as widespread. Still, fun to think about.
Oh, here's another fun fact: Xbox LIVE has 40 million monthly subscribers while LoL has 32 mil monthly players. And every second sees another 75 Teemo deaths. Poor Captain Teemo, I loved him so.
The chart also shows that 90 percent of LoL players are dudes, which comes as a surprise to absolutely no one. Most players fall between the ages of 16 to 30.
For the full infographic, head over here. It's a big one, folks. On a slightly related note, Bungie dropped a Halo infographic back in April, if you're interested in that too.

And my bad, thought you meant dota2, wasn't even aware dota1 was still popular with 2 basically being out from what I can tell.
Crying shame, but not really.
Cheers to Riot, best multiplayer game in history.
Edit: Nope. The client isn't supported by Mac OS, I would assume because of flash properties.
If you're up for it OP, You could dual boot your mac with an OS of your choice to use league on.
????
Profit.

So yeah, pennies compared to LoL at the moment. Steam is currently at a peak activity hour, the graph on that page shows Steam hits peak users around 11am daily, and then starts to dip back down, hitting a low at around 11pm.
