Nintendo 3DS game sales see 89 percent increase since last year
Including 3DS XL software
Nintendo has reported that since September, 3DS software sales have risen by 89 percent year on year, taking into account 3DS XL game sales as well. The increase has been attributed to (What else?) first party titles, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 leading the pack at over 295,000 units sold in its second month of availability. Yeah, people love that fat plumber in red.
A number of other Nintendo games are also performing rather well, according to the company. Mario Kart 7, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D have all seen "sales increases compared to last month."
Guess the message here is that Nintendo's existing franchises will never get old. For most people, anyway. Super Mario 64 DS has also sold over five million copies in the United States alone, and becomes the third DS title to hit the five million mark, right next to New Super Mario Bros. at 10.6 million and Mario Kart DS at 8.5 million.
Yes, the 3DS does indeed print money.

I'm going to ask for a blue XL 3DS for Christmas/my birthday, there are too many good games and Nintendo is getting too good again to miss nowadays. I want a Wii U too. But yeah, people always end up getting Nintendo's handhelds because they're just great, but I remember it not selling well at first ofc. I was like "lol *bleep* 3D" at first, but you DON'T have to use it, and I probably won't unless I try it out for fun for like cutscenes or gameplay sometimes. The 3D part of it is just not for me, but the great games? Yes, totally for me. Man, I miss Nintendo now that more than half the games look/are good.
Wonder how many people will have the system once a new Pokemon gets announced/released, I'd assume the next one would be for the 3DS, unless there's a B/W 3.
