The original Borderlands really did claim the best themes for its DLC packs -- zombies, robot armies, gladiatorial arenas. In response, Borderlands 2 says, "Wait, we've forgotten about pirates!" A simple problem Gearbox has corrected as of right now. Introducing Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, the first of four campaign-style DLC packs for Borderlands 2. Who cares if most of Pandora's oceans have long since dried up, because space pirates are cooler and desert-style dried ocean beds are easier to traverse!
Captain Scarlett will introduce the new area of Oasis, filled (yet again) with bandit filled junkyards, palm trees and coral formations. No word on water, yet. Players can also expect the Sand Skiff to become available, a new vehicle Star Wars fans may recall fondly. Best of all, of course, is likely Captain Scarlett herself, a character likely to fit in perfectly with the rest of Pandora's mildly disturbed population.
Borderlands 2's first big DLC pack, unless you consider Gaige the Mechromancer to fit that role, will cost $9.99 and release on Oct. 16 across all platforms (Xbox 360, PC, PS3). Unless of course you've picked up the Borderlands 2 season pass, which includes Captain Scarlett and three more DLC campaigns over the next half a dozen months.
