Painkiller Hell and Damnation arrives on Halloween for PC
"Toned down" version for consoles (and PCs) next year
Painkiller will soon make its glorious return, as Painkiller Hell & Damnation arrives for the PC on October 31. Publisher Nordic Games says this version is the "totally uncut" experience, while a "toned down" one arrives on January 22, 2013, for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Hell & Damnation is an HD remake of the 2004 game and its expansion, Battle Out of Hell. The original game was developed by People Can Fly; however the new version is being handled by The Farm 51.
Painkiller Hell & Damnation is a Steamworks title, runs on Unreal Engine 3, and features some of the nastiest denizens of Hell you'll ever face. You need to rely on skill and firepower to survive the onslaught, as this first-person shooter is about as old school as it gets. There's no regenerating health or kill streak bonuses here, just some old-fashioned gaming.
The game is available to pre-purchase on Steam for $20 for the regular edition or $30 for the collector's edition. The CE features a soundtrack, making of video, Tarot Card DLC, Multiplayer Body Skin DLC, and more. There are also pre-purchase rewards, with the already unlocked first tier granting immediate access to the beta. The second tier includes the Body Skin DLC, while the third tier is a copy of Painkiller: Black Edition.
