A teaser image from Rovio has suggested that the developer has joined forces with Star Wars for its next Angry Birds title, which the firm is hoping to be "its next big thing".
The image depicts one of the Angry Birds dressed in a Jedi robe and holding a lightsaber. Rovio then referred to the game as its "next big thing", with more details on the title due to be revealed soon, including "behind the scenes content, animations, comics, and much, much more" over the "next few weeks".
Rovio had recently released Angry Birds spin-off Bad Piggies onto the iOS App Store. Within three hours of going on sale, the game broke records for the studio, reaching the best-selling game position on the App Store.
UPDATE: Rovio has officially announced Angry Birds Star Wars. The game will launch on iOS, Android and "computers" on November 8, 2012.
The spin-off sees Star Wars characters Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi transformed into each of the series' birds. Luke Skywalker, for one, will be based on the series' Red Bird, with Han Solo acting like the Yellow Bird.
However, instead of attacking pigs, the aforementioned characters will be hunting down Star Wars' enemies such a a pig-styled Darth Vader, as well as his army of stormtroopers.
Angry Birds Star Wars, which Rovio stresses will be its "biggest and best game to date", will be built around Angry Birds Space's gravitational physics. Worlds and environments from the films including Tatooine and Hoth will be featured.
Unsurprisingly, a series of clothing, toys and action figures based around Angry Birds Star Wars will be available "about a week before" the title launches.
