A good many months have passed since Mojang announced their oddly titled 0x10c. Today, Notch posted the first video for the game, though it's really just test footage. Doesn't mean it isn't worth a gander.
The game is a bit of a space sim (sort of) that takes place in the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, after your character comes out of cryo. The long sleep was purely accidental, of course, and now you're way ahead in the future, when the universe "is on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy." Ouch.
The video shows off some of the game's dynamic lighting, as the player walks around a room with a blaster. Note that this isn't what the game will look like in its final state. Notch tweets:
"While I've been working on the engine, @eldrone [artist, Jonatan Pöljö] has been working on a test scene for the art style. Looking forward to merging the two!"
