FIFA Soccer 13 launch day sales hit 353K units in US
Tops FIFA 12 day one sales by 42 percent, while breaking iOS sales records (for EA anyways)
The NPD Group's monthly sales report for Septeumber isn't quite ready for public consumption, but EA is more than happy to share some sales figures it tallied for FIFA Soccer 13 in the meantime. EA boasts that launch day sales for FIFA 13 in the US hit 353,000 units combined for both PS3 and Xbox 360, which according to the publisher is a smooth 42 percent increase over the day one figures garnered by FIFA 12 last year. What's more, players in the US alone have racked up some 1.4 million games online in the first 24 hours after the game launched.
FIFA 13 also enjoyed "record-setting" launch-day performance on Apple's iOS platform which includes the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Day one downloads for FIFA 13 topped those for FIFA 12 by 62 percent, most likely benefiting from the fact that the iOS launch was global compared to the console releases.
Pleased as it is with FIFA 13's North American performance thus far, what EA is really looking forward to is the worldwide launch of the title tomorrow. The publisher is banking on a "historic opening" for the franchise come the global release of FIFA 13, as the title already enjoys a pre-order count of an estimated 1.3 million units worldwide.
