Assassin's Creed has always been very respectful of history and setting, but with Assassin's Creed 3 it begins to hit close to home for many players. The events during the game were taught to us in school and seen in movies, so everyone should know the Boston Tea Party -- at least vaguely. This new trailer capitalizes on that closeness, reeducating us on the event, before breaking it down and adding in the Assassin vs. Templar war.
Many may never have realized, but Ubisoft has talked about just how serious they take historical accuracy, even down to the names of the assassination targets. Considering the setting of Assassin's Creed and then the Ezio trilogy, just how detailed they've been has never undertaken close scrutiny. With Assassin's Creed 3 being set in the American Revolution, and apparently altering even the Boston Tea Party, Ubisoft will have to tread carefully.
Expect Assassin's Creed 3 t o release October 30 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and late November on PC and Wii U. Just how far will Ubisoft take this alternate history? Will the Washington Monument hold secrets untold? Is the Apple hidden in the Lincoln Memorial's head?
