Magic: The Gathering Duels 2013 guild expansion launches
Returning to Ravnica, though probably not in the way you expect
An expansion has launched for card game Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, and features five decks based on guilds from the original Ravnica set. If you''ve never been into paper Magic or perhaps just missed out on that one, Ravnica is one of the game's greatest sets, as it focuses on 10 different dual colour guilds and their specific mechanics, making for lots of fun and flavour.
The expansion houses the Blue/Red Izzet guild (lots of spells), Black/Green Golgari guild (death and sacrifice), Green/White Selesnya guild (life and tokens), Black/Red Rakdos guild (aggressive damage), and finally, the Blue/White Azorious guild (Auras). So, between the five, you should be able to find one you love. And if not, likely the other five guilds will come in a future expansion.
Paper Magic players are likely aware the Return to Ravnica expansion is coming up next month. Oddly and in contrast to previous releases, this Duels expansion features no new cards from the set. In any case, it's a good way to catch up or relive the glory days.
You can grab the new content now on Steam, Xbox LIVE, PSN, or iPad for $5. Besides new decks, you get new portraits, challenges, achievements, and campaign levels. Oh, and there's a patch out for all platforms which fixes some bugs -- hit the source if you want details on that.
