Last week, Keiji Inafune announced a new game code named YAIBA. At the time very little was known about it other than it would include zombies, ninjas, and mechs. Today we have some more information, as YAIBA has been renamed Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z and confirmed a spin-off of the Ninja Gaiden series.
Inafune broke the news during Team Ninja's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, revealing it as a collaborative effort between his studio, comcept, and Team Ninja. The collaboration is a "dream come true" for Inafune, as he can create a game featuring both zombies and ninjas. What more do you need in an action game?
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z centers on the tale of undead ninja Yaiba and his quest for revenge against his killer, Ryu Hayabusa. It is unknown if we are only controlling Yaiba or both characters, although it makes sense to only control the title character. Going up against Ryu may not be anyone's idea of a picnic, but hopefully Yaiba has a few tricks up his rotting sleeves to complete his revenge.
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is in development for "consoles", but no specifics were mentioned at this time. The same goes for a release date, so hopefully both of these are cleared up soon.
