Hint: it's slimmer
Sony has revealed its "lighter, slimmer" PlayStation 3 model that's been rumoured for some time now at Tokyo Game Show. As you can see from the image above, it more closely remembers the sound and sleek design of the PlayStation 2 Slim, and less so a waffle iron. It's said "Slimmer" is 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the PS3 as it is now.
The new model comes in a simple two versions: 250GB and 500GB. The former is $270, launches September 25, and includes Uncharted 3: GOTY Edition plus $30 worth of Dust 514 content; the latter is $300, launches October 30, and includes Assassin's Creed 3 .

PlayStation website AU said that it's only 12GB? In an age of digital download, what kind of people use 12GB? Better than 4GB Xbox 360 though...GB seems to be lesser and lesser as the versions go up...PlayStation 4 won't come with 1GB and 1 USB, I hope.
P.S. I'm glad that I've a PS2 & SACD compatible PS3 original glossy one with 4USBs and Multimedia Cards Reader
I needed a new PS3 and I'll definitely pick this up.
Wait an extra month, and spend the extra $30 for twice as many gigs, unless you're desperately in need of Uncharted 3.
Honestly, the price difference is so miniscule, I don't see why anyone wouldn't get the 500GB model, unless it's radioactive or something.
Sorry, but I've never heard anybody lament that that their PS3, or any other console, just takes up too much room, or that they haven't bought one because they couldn't find the space for it. Unless there's been some kind of hardware improvement like fixing known issues with the old hardware, bringing back hardware emulation of PS1/2 games, or die shrinks to make the thing generate significantly less heat, then don't bother, especially not this late in its lifespan.
