Jesus, here, 12GB version is more expensive than 250GB!! What the hell is happening??

PlayStation website AU said that it's only 12GB? In an age of digital download, what kind of people use 12GB? Better than 4GB Xbox 360 though...GB seems to be lesser and lesser as the versions go up...PlayStation 4 won't come with 1GB and 1 USB, I hope.

P.S. I'm glad that I've a PS2 & SACD compatible PS3 original glossy one with 4USBs and Multimedia Cards Reader

Now only one ultimate question remains: Why?

I think you can expect a price drop to correspond with it...

I needed a new PS3 and I'll definitely pick this up.

The 12Gb model is a competitor to the recently unveiled 8Gb Wii U.. The 12Gb model is cheaper and it has far more games on offer. Sony are basically hoping to steal many of the casual gamers that are interested in Wii U.

As they get slimmer and lighter soon the PlayStation 4 will be the size of a psp. XD

If anyone's debating with themselves on which version to get, let me decide for you.

Wait an extra month, and spend the extra $30 for twice as many gigs, unless you're desperately in need of Uncharted 3.

Honestly, the price difference is so miniscule, I don't see why anyone wouldn't get the 500GB model, unless it's radioactive or something.

Not to mention that you get a $60 game with it as well

20% smaller, you say?

Sorry, but I've never heard anybody lament that that their PS3, or any other console, just takes up too much room, or that they haven't bought one because they couldn't find the space for it. Unless there's been some kind of hardware improvement like fixing known issues with the old hardware, bringing back hardware emulation of PS1/2 games, or die shrinks to make the thing generate significantly less heat, then don't bother, especially not this late in its lifespan.

Liege, making it smaller is always a nice touch. It looks better than the slim did.

After thinking about it for a while, my guess as to why Sony thinks is a good idea is that they really, really hate seeing red numbers and are willing to compete with the Wii U this season with a new PS3. I mean, that sounds great but this model offers no tangible benefit over the outgoing model unless you count a bastardization of contemporary and late 80s style in the form of dust collecting plastic grooves as a benefit.

Liege, It's a simple money grab. Sony know this generation is over or as good as over, they are set to launch their last major exclusives for Playstation 3 over the next 8 months and once they are out the road to Playstation 4 begins.. This is their last major push to get a few million more sales before the Playstation 3 becomes less relevant.
