Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS revealed, mixes in image-scan dungeon creation
Who's that Pokemon? It's a mystery... dungeon
Pokemon fans may be begging for an iteration of the main franchise on the 3DS, but in the meantime Pokemon Mystery Dungeon will have to do. The official Japanese title is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth, officially unveiled by Chunsoft and Nintendo over the weekend with a fun new trailer. Tentatively scheduled for Japanese release in 2013, PMD 3DS looks like it has plenty of new features to watch out for.
Perhaps most exciting is a feature that, and I'm speculating a bit because I don't have a translation of the trailer, will scan video taken with the 3DS camera and produce "portals" from circular objects. These portals then act like gateways into dungeons for Pokemon to explore. Keep in mind Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a rogue-like, so each of the portal dungeons will be randomly generated and ripe for exploration.
Keep in mind, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS is only announced for Japan at this point in time. Heck, the previous games in the series from 2009, the Adventure Squad trio, have yet to be localized either. If you're excited about the game, let Nintendo know and hopefully they'll bring the game over as soon as possible.
