I'm interested in this, not because of the game, but because Obsidian won't have a publisher this time.

For those who haven't been paying attention, every game Obsidian has made (with the exception of Dungeon Siege 3) has had issues that Obsidian blamed on the publisher. It doesn't take much to spot a pattern there.

With this being the first game where they do their own publishing (ostensibly), they won't have that fallback excuse.

So either the game is great and they can say "I told you so"
OR
If it tanks, they won't have the publisher to hide behind.

Please proceed Obsidian, I'm interested in what you do....

I agree whole heartedly with this statement. I'm curious to see what Obsidian does given their recent track record.

I really hate that Kickstarter is being co-opted by multi-million dollar conglomerate corporations to fund projects they can afford to take a risk on, when the spirit of the site was to fund people who never stood the chance of even being able to take a risk and borrow money to fund a potential project.

I'd argue that the spirit of the site was more of a response to the common complaint people had that the gaming industry had drastically lost quality, innovation and creativity due to mega publishers.

Yes, because Kickstarter is only a thing for video gaming. Oh wait, no it's not.

There's no attitude, I was just merely illustrating through sarcasm that you're wrong about the intent of Kickstarter. It's not just for gaming. It's intent, from the onset, was to help fund projects that would otherwise be impossible to fund. Things that guys like you and me, who can't get loans from the bank or who don't have hundreds of investors, make. That is the intent. It's not to diversify or increase "innovation" in the gaming industry. The fact that corporations and other conglomerates are hijacking it is disgusting, even if they're companies I generally like.

You act like Obsidian is a rich company like Valve or Bethesda. They aren't.

Ok, well get back to me when one of those corporations you're talking about start abusing it.

They're still a multi-million dollar company guys. Like, come on.

Also, I can link to several examples of companies doing this from Steve Jackson Games to NECA. There's a ton of them.
